RALLYLEGEND CELEBRATES ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY:
TWO DECADES OF RALLYING, EXCITEMENT, PASSION AND PERFORMANCE, IN A ONE-OF-A-KIND EVENT.
FROM 13 TO 16 OCTOBER, THE REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO WILL PLAY HOST TO A RALLYLEGEND TO BEAT ALL OTHERS, FINALLY REOPEN TO ITS INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE.
Republic of San Marino.
From 13 to 16 October, Rallylegend 2022 will finally open its doors to its many fans and enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond, with a special edition to celebrate twenty years of this one-of-a-kind event.
There are still more than four months to go until the inauguration of Rallylegend 2022, but expectation is already mounting.
The organisational staff and the Republic of San Marino, the long-time “cradle” of Rallylegend, are putting together the schedule for four days of rallying, excitement, performance and passion, determined to offer an unforgettable twentieth anniversary edition.
AN “EXTRA LARGE” RALLYLEGEND TO MARK AN IMPORTANT BIRTHDAY
The number of historic world rally champions who have never attended Rallylegend over these twenty memorable years are so few that they can be counted on one hand. Over time, some have become a fixed presence, if not actual event ambassadors, like our very own Miki Biasion. And gradually, Rallylegend has also become an unmissable event for teams and drivers competing in the modern World Rally Championship; Craig Breen won’t miss it for example. But Rallylegend is also ‘home’ to Italian rally champions, many of whom often attend, as well as countless big names hailing from other nations. All of whom bring some of the most beautiful, important, and rarest of rally cars, past and present, to the delight and amazement of the public.
And so what better way to celebrate all this than with a “Super Rallylegend”. The 2022 edition will get underway on Thursday 13 October, with a spectacular new “Super Special Stage” that will take place at night. Roughly 4 kilometres long, it will run around the Rally Village and that all registered crews will compete and that will entitle them to a particular “bonus”. This will be preceded by the traditional Rallylegend Parade, the presentation of cars and crews to the public, open to all entrants this year.
Rallylegend will then continue on Friday 14 October with four special stages (two to be repeated), interposed with the Regrouping, and the unmissable refreshments in San Marino old town. Saturday will bring three timed sections to be repeated twice, with the traditional conclusion on Sunday 16 October, which will see the last four specials (two to be repeated).
Entries for Rallylegend 2022 will open on Monday 25 July, to close on Thursday 29 September and a maximum of 160 crews will be admitted.
Tickets will be available via the TicketOne platform as of late May, with a special promotional offer running until July.
RALLYLEGEND CELEBRATIONS. FORTY YEARS OF THE ICONIC LANCIA 037
As is customary, Rallylegend celebrations always comprise a wide range of appealing events. And while many initiatives are still in development, two have already been confirmed.
One will be dedicated to the fortieth anniversary of the iconic Lancia 037, the last two-wheel-drive car to win a World Rally Championship. Many of the champions and drivers who raced and won with the ‘zero’ will be in attendance, along with a good number of the most important cars, in their most legendary liveries, all “seasoned” with special effects and surprises, in true Rallylegend style. And there has to be a moment dedicated to the successful debut of the Lancia 037 at the 1982 San Marino rally and the first Italian title, albeit ‘shared’ with the Ferrari 308 GTB. Aboard engineer Limone’s new creature, launched onto the rallying stage by Cesare Fiorio, were drivers Tonino Tognana and Massimo De Antoni, who return to Rallylegend now, alongside all those players who made up that hard-fought 1982 Italian Rally Championship.
