RALLYLEGEND 2024 IS WON BY FOURMAUX (WRC), ROMAGNA (CLASSIC) AND BRUSORI (HISTORIC)
He dove himself with a smile in the Rallylegend atmosphere, in the warmth of the many fans, signed autographs and took hundreds of selfies for four days. But when Adrien Fourmaux, together with Alexandre Coria, sit in his Ford Puna Rally1 Hybrid of the M-Sport team, without forgetting to entertain the public with a spectacular drive, he was driven by the law of the official WRC driver. Having quickly forgotten the small hydraulic problem of the Puma in the Sprint Legend Race on Thursday, Fourmaux won all special tests, finishing in the lead with a large advantage over the competitors in WRC.
“I am happy to be back at Rallylegend after my participation in 2020. I found an even warmer atmosphere and even more passionate spectators. It was great to bring the Puma Rally1 Hybrid to this rally festival.”
Andrea Crugnola’s fifteenth place among the WRCs, with Tavernini, certainly deserves mention. The four-time Italian rally champion joined the fray of the “muscular” Rally1 and Rally2 with the small but agile Peugeot 106 Maxi, pulling off a valuable performance.
Even among the Classics there was a dominator, who gave prestige to the Martini Racing colors of his 1990 Lancia Delta Integrale 16V: Simone Romagna, with Lamonato, immediately took the lead in the classification, battling with Gustavo Trelles, with Del Buono , until the Uruguayan’s Subaru Impreza was stopped by a broken clutch. Then Romagna managed a consistent advantage, controlling the comeback of a wild Andrea Saccheggiani, with Nicolò Salgaro (1997 Subaru Impreza 555), who finished on second place, and “Il Valli”, supported by Cirillo on the notes, who brought his two wheeled drive 1988 BMW M3 to third place.
Among the Historics, Simone Brusori returns to victory, with Carrugi at notes, aboard the 1981 Porsche 911 SCRS. Starting in the lead, Brusori maintained leadership until the end, overcoming his pursuers, led by Stefano Rosati from San Marino, with Costa , in the loyal 1981 Talbot Lotus and the Porsche 911 of Alessandro Bonafè and Paolo Cargnelutti, who close the podium.
LEGEND STARS, PARADES AND FREE LAPS: THE SHOW WITHIN THE SHOW
As a well-established tradition, Rallylegend delighted its many spectators as crews took to the track for Legend Stars and free laps, featuring champions like Arturo Merzario and Miki Biasion.
With no pressure to set the fastest time, the event turned into a fantastic display at the iconic “The Legend” stage. Among the sixty wonderful cars and among many “big” Stig Blomqvist, with the Audi Quattro S1 of the 1984 World Rally Championship, Armin Schwarz (Audi Quattro), Andrea Aghini, with a Ford Sierra Cosworth, Patrick Snijers, as well in Sierra Cosworth and Enea Bastianini, official Ducati Lenovo driver and protagonist of MotoGP, who shared another Audi Quattro S1 with Emanuele Zonzini, Lamborghini driver and tester stood out.
The centaur from Rimini was visibly excited: “I had never driven a rally car with this power and performance” commented at the end “Bestia”, as everyone calls him in the motorsport world.
“It’s truly incredible to experience the thrill of trying to tame it”.
Always on the edge, Paolo Diana and Frank Kelly were among the standout performers.
On the final day of Rallylegend 2024, the event concluded with a heartfelt farewell to the large and enthusiastic public with the scenic Parade of the Dakar cars, one of the highlights of the 22nd San Marino event, alongside Lancia Stratos and the Audi Quattro.
KOVALAINEN WINS THE PIRELLI BEST JUMP TROPHY
A jury made up of experts judged Heikki Kovalainen as the best, with Ferm and the Citroen C3 WRC Plus: a spectacular jump on the special stage “The Legend”, awarded with the Pirelli Best Jump trophy.
ANTIGUA LEGEND CUP TO VOJTECH AND CRUGNOLA
The Antigua Legend Cup is now a tradition at Rallylegend. A trophy with dream prizes which, using the rules and coefficients of sailing regattas, allows, in its particular classification, the slowest cars to compete on an equal level with the fastest ones. For the 2024 edition, the stay in Antigua goes to the Czech Stepan Vojtech (Citroen C3 WRC Plus). However, the prize is doubled to reward historic cars. The first of “historic” Antigua Legend Cups goes to Andrea Crugnola, fast with his Peugeot 106 Maxi.
